Pastor Ron Gilliland was born in Macon County, Missouri and raised on a forty acre dirt farm until the age of fourteen. At the age of eight years old he was saved in a revival meeting at Chatitan Ridge Baptist Church, and was baptized in a muddy deacons pond the next spring when it got warm enough. When Ron was fourteen years old he moved to Tucson, AZ with his family, because of his mother's health. There he attended and graduated from Catalina High School in 1967. While a junior in high school he met Edna Wood at Pima Street Baptist Church where they both attended. Being around each other in church and Catalina High School they fell in love and were married on October 28th, 1967. After four years of marriage they had their first daughter, Kimberly, and then four years later had their second daughter Lindy. Both of their beautiful daughters are married and live in Tucson. They have two wonderful granddaughters Cheyanne and Tessa Inman.
Pastor Ron and Edna began their work serving the Lord at an early age after they were married. They started out teaching the pre-school children and have taught literally every age group. They served as youth directors at Pima Street Baptist Church and Edna was Acteens Director for twenty-five years and was the State Acteens Director for eight years. Ron was ordained in 1976 as a deacon and served twenty-six years. He was licensed to preach in 1994 and ordained into the ministry in 1999. During his life-long service to the Lord Ron also worked thirty-three years for the telephone company retiring from Qwest Communication in 2000. Pastor Ron would be quick to tell you that, "all things are possible for those who love the Lord".
